When 2 passionate souls come together, they create MAGIC! And that is exactly what the food at Chop Suey is!
Located at the ground floor of Beach Park Plaza in Jumeirah, Chop Suey was found a couple of years ago by the dynamic duo Bassam and Diana and let me tell you this, they have done complete justice to their menu, service and quality of food. I would never have discovered this hidden gem had it not been for Diana’s kind invite to experience it.
With a simple and beautiful decor, this restaurant is cozy and oh so Chinese at the same time.
The food was remarkable and honestly one of the finest I have experienced in Chinese cuisine. We started off with the Ginger and Lemongrass drink which was refreshing and hit the right spot. The strong taste of ginger was mellowed down with the lemongrass and made to perfection for the summer heat.
Then came one of the finest appetizers I have had in Chinese cuisine – Crispy mixed Mushrooms Manchurian Style – This consisted of Shitake, Straw, Oyster and Button Mushrooms and mixed in a manchurian seasoning sauce. The mushrooms were fried and crispy and came piping hot. They were so crispy and amazing that i ate almost the whole dish! I highly recommend this.
After this, we moved on to the Hot and Sour Soup which was soothing and perfect for someone who has the blues. It consisted of green onions, carrots, mushrooms and soft tofu. The portion is big and can be easily shared between 2.
Then came the most amazing and crispy spring rolls I have ever had! Trust me when i say this, I have had spring rolls as good and crisp as these only in one other restaurant in Dubai and i was so glad to find them here too. They wen super well with the special Chop Suey sauce and the veggies inside were fresh and made very well.
For main course we had the Sizzling Silky Tofu with Broccoli and Shitake Mushrooms and i really recommend this with the Vegetable Fried Rice. The tofu is truly the silkiest you will have. soft and melts in your mouth made in a scrumptious sauce and served on a sizzling plate.
By the end of this meal, we were too happy and stuffed to have any dessert so we skipped the extra calories. Please do try their special Chop Suey sauce which is one of the best concoctions i have had in a Chinese restaurant. You will definitely not leave feeling disappointed after having a meal here. The best part is? They don’t use MSG 🙂 And they have various healthy options too! For me, that’s a perfect win!
