Jumeirah Lakes Towers houses some really good restaurants and Blue Sapphire could definitely be one of them.
Brightly lit with neon blue lights (almost like a blue sapphire), the decor and ambiance resemble quite a few typical Indo-Chinese restaurants from back home. Serving Calcutta like Chinese (almost) we were surprised to find the food of good quality and bursting with flavours. When in that area or when craving Chinese, you should surely give this place a try.
We were served a complimentary dish of spicy fried noodles mixed with some authentic Indo-Chinese sauces. This is something rarely seen in this part of the world and made for a nice start to the meal. The crisp noodles were delicious and consisted of cabbage, onions and carrots.
We opted for fried dumplings for starters rather than steamed ones and found the filling spiced the right amount and the texture of the dumpling crisp. It made for a good appetizer.
Along with this we also called for the crispy veg with crispy spinach which is generally my favourite part. The deep fried spinach shreds were delicious and went extremely well with our spicy crispy vegetables.
I also love a good Chilli Potato at an Indo-Chinese restaurant and Blue Sapphire hit the right spot! The potatoes were fried and tosses in vinegar, schezwan, soya and chilli sauces and definitely made me a happy person.
For the main course we had the Hakka Noodles, Vegetable Balls in Hot Garlic Sauce and Schezwan Fried Rice. All the dishes were freshly prepared and reeked of deliciousness. I was truly surprised I had never seen this place and wished it was closer to home. The best part about all the dishes was the very less usage of oil. The food was not at all oily and was catered to our needs perfectly.
Our meal ended with the most amazing and unique Chinese dessert i have ever had. Fried caramelized apple with ice cream. At first i thought, OK i don’t think i can ever digest that. But one bite of the hot apple with the cold ice cream and you are in heaven! It was truly magical. I absolutely loved the dessert!
In all Blue Sapphire is pretty great for your Chinese craving tastebuds and will gladly deliver to you if you are in the vicinity. They also have an outdoor dining area which i think will be better in the winters. The service is warm and friendly and the manager knows the cuisine well enough to cater to your special requests.
