lker – When i entered this quirky little cafe serving all kinds of healthy food, I didn’t know what was waiting in store for me!
You would never believe if i told you that i found a place tucked in Marriott Executive Apartments and it serves AMAZING pancakes along with other amazing food!
When i first saw the menu of Skye & Walker and realized how protein packed and healthy almost everything on the menu was, I was glad i had skipped breakfast that morning. Their menu is quite non-traditional and serves a lot of dishes which you will not find around town. Their cheerful chef will gladly whip up alterations if you want and i tell you, he is good at what he does!
We started off with baked Kale chips which were so good, that we continue to have them till date at home! The family loves it and the crispness makes you forget you are having Kale.
To experience something different, i opted for the Safron Iced Tea! Have you ever heard of that? I bet not! It was refreshing and the taste of safron was strong. Quite unique and those who love their zafrani chai would find this quite interesting.
To soothe my sister’s cold, we opted for some hot tomato soup & fennel soup which was creamy and delicious! It was perfect to ail any sluggishness and was served with some toasted buttered baguette. The soup had chunks of delicious mozzarella and was something i really liked. I love creamy thick tomato soup 🙂
For my mains, i called for the Zucchini Noodles which are apparently only found in Skye & Walker. I can’t claim the same but i definitely am not aware of any other place serving the same. Known as the S & W Zoodles, the Zucchini noodles with garlic, cherry tomato, basil and shaved parmesan was one of the healthiest meals i have ever had along with being tasty! The portion was huge and good for almost 3 if you want to sample a variety of dishes. I had requested for some pink sauce and the chef prepared something which i could have never imagined! It was a mixture of ketchup and some other dip (i honestly don;t know what he did) but it was delicious and went extremely well with my Zoodles!
I also called for a portion of mashed potato as a side. It was decent but i wish had been a bit smoother.
Then came the best part and i am so glad i opted for these. Pancakes! What was so unique about them?
- Firstly, they were made from scratch in house.
- Secondly, the maple syrup served with them was really good which i think made the whole experience even better.
- Thirdly, they were topped with butter which melted away to perfection.
- Fourthly, you can opt for Nutella and whipped cream which is literally the cherry on the cake!
- And last but not the least, a combination of all this in your mouth is an explosion of heaven! You could easily finish the 3 pancakes because they were so light.
To end my brilliant meal, i opted for a pink macaroon which are available in store to honor the PINKTOBER month for breast cancer awareness. 1 AED from each macaroon will be donated which makes the calories all the more worthwhile 🙂
I loved the cafe like relaxed feel of the place with a section of it giving you a feeling like being at home.
Highly recommended for the food and a non fussed relaxed breakfast or lunch.
