If my title doesn’t already say it, you gotta take my word for it! Bean There Bistro is one of the finest places I have come across when it comes to it’s “Oh So Instagrammable” interiors and the fact that this beautiful place serves food and alcohol makes it a lot more desirable for those who like to unwind.
A part of the Abela & Co. group, Bean There Bistro is located in Millenium Airport Hotel and looks like someone’s well done living room with a bar that’s made from a single piece of wood, handcrafted in Indonesia.
It’s ceiling lamps come from Italy and are made from wood shavings and are the most attractive piece of furniture other than the Italian floor tiles which are handpainted.
It also boasts of a wall of beautiful growing plants which have an in built irrigation system and definitely add to the charm of the entire place.
Divided in 2 sections, the other section features lots of vintage posters on the wall and a book shelf that adorns the wall.
We were welcomed very warmly by Mr Surendran who also had dinner with us and gave us an insight into how the restaurant started and how it was designed. He was a delight to dine with! We started off with mocktails which were really good. Sweet and sour at the same time, they provided the tang that was required for the weekend to set in 🙂
The menu covers a lot of International options. For appetizers we tried:
Vegetable Pakoras with Mint Chutney – Yummy and truly Indian, these will be perfect to watch the rain through their windows while sipping on some hot tea.
Then, I ate the most beautiful and delicious Open Sandwich i had ever consumed. The Bean There Sandwich consisted of Halloumi and Moutabel with Watercress, Mint and Chilli. I don’t usually like Moutabel but the combination was like a dream and the Moutabel tasted really good. The Halloumi too was not heavy and grilled to perfection!
If you are an edamame person, you will love the simplicity of these!
The Quinoa and French Lentil Salad was way too healthy for my liking but if someone like my husband had to have it, he would have relished this! It consisted of roasted carrots, red onions, dried berries, chopped spinach tossed in Bistro vinaigrette and served on a bed of greens! Sounds perfectly healthy right 🙂
The salad that i loved was the Marinated Beet and Goats Cheese. Marinated beetroot, grapefuit, oranges, pistachios, goats cheese, fresh spinach and house vinaigrette gave it it’s beautiful look and amazing taste. It was unique, something i have never come across before and did full justice to giving you a plumper heart.
The Caprese Ciabatta with vine ripe tomatoes, fresh mozarella, basil pesto, aged balsamic on grilled ciabatta was filling and perfect for a healthy and simple lunch or dinner. the ingredients were fresh which added to it’s taste.
This Paratha and Chana were made vegetarian otherwise the chole come with chicken. This was a bit bland for me but for someone older and who doesnt eat spicy food, this would be perfect as was still tasty enough.
To end our perfect meal came the perfect looking desserts – The Red Velvet Cakes and Chocolate Mouse Cups both of which were decent.
This Bistro is highly recommended for a ladies night, chill out evening or a lazy dinner. Love this place!
