A desi joint in Karama serving North Indian, South Indian, Indo-Chinese, Indo-Mexican with quite an extensive menu.
The service was warm when we went in and the interiors have a wall full of plates lined up in a funky manner on one side and shapes of different states of India on the other side. I would say the starters were much better than the main course and we really liked all of them.
Karara Palak Chaat – This was really good! Crispy palak (spinach) topped with different sweet and spicy chutneys, curd, sev and pomegranate seeds made for a very yummy chaat.
Humpty Dumpty (Crispy Vegetables) – Fried pieces of vegetables crisped to perfection and cooked in Schezwan sauces made for a very appetizing starter.
Paneer Chilly and Crispy Paneer – They were both almost similar but delicious! Whether you order one or the other they end up kind of tasting the same. A very Indo-Chinese dish, this one has soft paneer cubes and is not disappointing.
Hara Bhara Kabab – Fried to perfection, these were really tasty with they spinach filling inside.
Bombay Cold Coffee – Will definitely transport you back to some of the vintage coffee houses in India. It was lip smacking and quite refreshing.
Mexican Enchiladas – This was quite unique. I have never seen mexican be a part of an indian menu generally unless the place specializes in making the cuisine a fusion Indian style. It was very delicious and definitely worth ordering. Quite heavy though.
The main course and gravies were about alright. There is definitely a lot of room for improvement when it comes to taste. They did not live up to the same taste of the starters. We ordered the Mysore Sada Dosa, Dum Aloo Kashmiri, Paneer Mumtaz and Jeera Rice.
The desserts were just about okay. You can have the Jalebi’s with a lot of different combinations. We tried the Jalebi with Nutella and Rabdi and these come as a portion with a side of the additions.
With such an extensive menu, a lot of dishes are a hit and I would definitely recommend to try their Mexican and starters.
