Baker & Spice is an award-winning food shop and restaurant with several locations in Dubai. The concept originated in London in 1995, quickly becoming an inspiration for food artisans and copied all over the world.
Baker & Spice Dubai is a centre for artisan food excellence. Guided by the seasons and ethical principles, their food philosophy is simple: local, organic, fresh, homemade.
I went in to preview their Meat Free Mondays, a concept wherein you can enjoy 2 courses for AED 79. Its from 6:30 PM to 11:30 PM every Monday and has artisan dishes curated specially for this. The menu keeps changing every month. Meatless Mondays is a contribution by meat lovers to making the world a better place. I was happy to know that B&S are a part of such an initiative.
The menu for November can be found HERE.
Lentil Soup – which was served in a cute tea cup and saucer. This was very healthy and quite light. It had a blend of unique spices to it and was not your regular bland lentil soup.
Momma’s Style Fat Chips with chili roasted peanut and the signature B&S tahini – These were way too good for my own tastebuds. Needless to say, i finished the entire dish!

Then we had the Onion Bhaji which were onion fritters served with mint and corainder sauce in an onion cup along with ginger yoghurt. These fritters were delectable and all that was left was for it to rain as pakoras or fritters are usually associated with a hot cup of chai and pakoras.
For the mains we tried the Saffron Risotto and Mexican Blackbean Chilli of which i loved the pungent taste of the blackbean chilli and the creaminess of the Risotto. Both main courses were quite unique and flavorful. Saffron Risotto is taking the world by storm at the moment and the chef has done full justice to the dish.
The mashed potato with butter is one of the best i have ever had and we had a huge portion of the same. It was creamy and downright delicious!
I also tried the orange juice which was freshly squeezed and not pulpy. It was very refreshing.
They have a huge range of artisan breads and an amazing variety of salads.
The interiors too are very chic and the service was absolutely amazing!
Absolutely lovely place to have a wholesome meal with local and organic produce. I have heard their Breakfast options are really good too so will definitely go back for that pretty soon!.
