SpiceKlub – Redefining Indian Cuisine with Molecular Gastronomy

Located in the hustling and bustling location of Mankhool, SpiceKlub is a welcoming respite from our classic Indian dishes. An all vegetarian restaurant, even a non veg lover will fall in love with the dishes here! How can i be so sure? My hard core non veg eating hubby was proof enough when i saw him gulp down the food here.

Adding the molecular twist to its menu, SpiceKlub whips a scrumptious range of delicacies from different parts of the country. Molecular Gastronomy may not be new to Dubai but few have been able to get it right!

I was blown away by the stunning artsy decor when i walked into the restaurant for a preview. Upon knowing the background of why they choose to do the interiors in the way they had, I learned that each element was a part of his childhood.

The stunning Rangoli wall reminded him of his mother’s rangoli during festivals, the bicycle wheels of his dad’s stories of how he used to play with these during his childhood, the familiar gate from olden Indian elevators reminded him of his visit to his grandma’s house and the kites of when he used to fly them as a child with all his cousins. The colorful cushions with Indian artwork added a fun touch to the elegant place. Everything was beautifully captured and you will relate to your own childhood memories if you too are an 80s kid ๐Ÿ™‚

We were so in love with the place that our expectations for the food sky rocketed! And thankfully each and every dish over exceeded my expectations! I loved the food so much that i visited them a 2nd time in the same week!

I had:

1. Coconut Water with Rose Caviar

Nitrogen Liquid Frozen Coconut Water topped with Rose Caviar. This drink was as pretty on the tongue as it was to the eyes! It was meant to be eaten and the taste was beautiful!

2. Masala Mojito – An Indian take on the traditional Mojito, the addition of chaat masala and Indian masala’s made this a very unique and refreshing drink.

3. Punch on the Pier

A bit sweet and tangy, this cute punch will definitely add a punch to your senses. It was light and went well with the food.

3. Aloo Bharwan

Oh my Lord! I love potatoes more than anything in this world and this was one of the best potato dishes i have ever come across. Stuffed with Cheese and topped with chilli caviar, this mind blowing dish comes on an activated charcoal grill and is piping hot. It is also quite spicy but beautiful and i bet you won’t be able to stop at one!

4. Papdi Chaat

Seriously, if someone has to serve me papdi chaat like this everyday, i would be in heaven everyday! Yoghurt Spherification, Chilli Foam, this was the bomb! Please do not miss out on this one!

5. Pav Bhaji Fondue

If I have done some good karma in my life, it paid me back in the form of this! Potatoes and Pav Bhaji are my 2 loves! And this one is SO good that i cant even explain the happiness. My husband who is not a big pav bhaji fan called for another round of this once the first round was over! And my brother said that this will now be his only spot to satisfy his pav bhaji cravings. No it is not your typical street side bhaji but it is decadent! Creamy and cheesy and buttery and all the goodness you can possibly dream of!

6. Beetroot Spheres with Beetroot Foam

img_6286

Beetroot should be served only like this! Anyone who will have this will fall in love with beetroot. Absolutely delish!

7. Veg Galauti Kabab

img_6290

After my wedding in Lucknow, all i ever dreamed was a veg version of this while others enjoyed the traditional non veg galauti kebabs to glory. And thank my stars that spice klub was kind enough to us vegetarians. They were so soft, just like how i have heard people talk about the non veg ones. A must try!

8. Main Course – Black Daal, Paneer Makhani and Crispy Garlic Naan

img_6292

After the brilliant appetizers which can be a meal in itself, if you do decide to go for the main course, do try the Black Daal which is quite good and creamy but not too heavy. The Paneer was sweet but not overly and tasted good. The naans were crisp and went very well with the mains.

9. Bubbling Kulfi

This is to DIE for! If you want to witness heaven on earth, it’s this! The nitrogen crushed kulfi starts melting in your mouth once you pop it in and the toppings are so good, i could bathe in them! my favourites are the salted caramel, rabri, and rose caviar and a mix of these on the kulfi will make you not want to share this dessert with anyone!

What do i recommend? EVERYTHING!!! I can’t tell you one dish only because eating here is a true culinary experience. The service is great and the best part? It all comes on a budget! For this side of town, this restaurant is a class apart and if you want to impress friends, family, colleagues, or simple enjoy mid blowing food, GO HERE!
