A leisure hotel in itself, The Oberoi in Dubai has a fine dining Latin American style restaurant called Waka. Its contemporary style cuisine and intricate interiors complement each other. It serves authentic Latin American dishes with vibrant flavors and has a dedicated Vegetarian Menu 🙂
The atmosphere is very calm and relaxed, good for a small casual meet or a brunch. The interiors have Aztec prints and a lot of coastal American influence. Same can be noticed in the food which is served.
The exclusive menu for vegetarians is heavenly. From Peruvian Cantonese wok dishes to tacos, ceviches, to awesome desserts, you name it and you get it. Cocktails and mocktails are also an inevitable part of the exotic menu. I tried the mushroom ceviche which had that oomph factor. Ceviche is traditionally served along coastal regions of the Caribbean, and has raw fish with citrusy juices though ours was vegetarian. It’s a classic and the taste was bang on. The spicy corn empanada was crispy and delicious. Again, a Spanish delight that was served generously. Empanadas are stuffed pastries or breads. They taste great with a drink. Here at Waka, one gets plenty of options for great Mocktails served uniquely.
The Wakamole is one of their specialties and is must have. The crispy potatoes were crunchy and spiced with herbs. They were cooked just right. For desserts, the chef gave us mini paletas which had filling in them. They were like cake pops. Overall the food served was excellent. The people at service were kind enough to explain about the dishes patiently and the Chef was ever smiling.
Waka at the Oberoi hotel in Dubai is one place to swear by, if one loves Caribbean style coastal cuisine and the ethos of Latin America along with the vibes and drinks. This place would surely take one on a juggling ride of exotic tasting cuisines. The flavors do wonders on the palette. The bar too is a beautiful place to enjoy a conversation. A very refreshing experience all together.
