Retro Feasts is located at The Beach, in Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR).
The chef behind the amazing dishes that you will get to taste here has a very sentimental value attached to whatever he cooks. Luke Thomas is the name of the chef behind Dubai’s diner Retro Feasts on the Beach, JBR, who cooks dishes which he used to cook in his childhood with his grandmother.
Housed inside one of the dome shaped shells at The Beach, this is a complete fun and chilled out place to dine in. After walking through a red telephone box to get into the restaurant, you will get to see model spitfires hanging from the ceiling, table football, vintage posters and the Union flag all over. Outside, a reused, re-invented vibe pervades the furniture set out in view of the sea, with oil drums, and industrial-sized wooden spools doubling up as tables and chairs. The concept at Retro Feasts is a modern re-imaging of vintage British favourites, and the quality of food will definitely surprise you.
Walking into this restaurant made me feel that I might just have the best of my meals with such an amazing feel around. And yes, this did come true!! The first thing that I ordered from their menu was the Banana Nutella Toast. I know the combination of banana with nutella may sound way too sweet but to be honest it was indeed one of the best combinations I have ever had. It was delicious and I could not resist myself from ordering a few more dishes. For those who are vegetarians and love burgers then my next dish is a must try for each one of you. The Veggie Burger. Sounds very normal but was an exceptionally yum choice. The potato cutlet used inside the burger was very nicely cooked, the amount of cheese they had used was just perfect and it was of a good size for someone to enjoy it to the fullest. Ordering a burger without Fries is not at all a good idea, so next up I ordered was Fries, which did not seem to be way too oily and had the correct amount of salt on top.
Talking about my overall experience about this place the vintage decor was all stars and as mentioned above the food was surprisingly very tasty. The service was even better! Must go to place by the beach.
